I can see why they'd do it with a "new" program, but SE16 was my audio editing prog of choice even having to open OS9 to use it. Finally, soundstudio came around and went multi track, and although I like it, the bit view in SE16 was priceless for what I do, and that thing saved and opened files in a snap.
Even though it's new, I still had hoped that UBs would be the norm for new stuff for longer, especially from someone like Adobe. I got my G5 in mid 04 and had hoped to have it for 8 years. Looks like it'll be more like the 4 years I had ye olde G3 for. Maybe I can squeeze more out of it, but we'll see.

Of course I can see the other side of this. Writing universal apps is not just a matter of "checking a box" in XCode; despite what I've heard some non-coders say on the subject.
I call bull -- I have a lot of code that I compile as universal at home and work. Sure it's a little more than checking a box, but for a lot of code, it's not much more.
And for an app that started as Intel, making the reverse transition is probably much easier. There is no CodeWarrior legacy crap, MPW, etc, etc. It already compiles in GCC 4 and will continue to do so under PPC. The only remaining issues are endian issues and maybe the possible use of assembly code.
I call bull -- I have a lot of code that I compile as universal at home and work. Sure it's a little more than checking a box, but for a lot of code, it's not much more.

The Laffer Curve is often referenced, but you're correct about it's actual meaning. Some conservatives have taken the Curve to mean that lowering taxes will always bring about more revenue. Something this article is trying to address.
Thing about the Laffer curve is that there was/is no research or data to back it up. Arthur Laffer pulled it out of a dark place and scribbled it down on a cocktail napkin. Its actual shape may have no actual correlation to the smooth bell we always see, it is all fiction because no one has tried to demonstrate its validity or accuracy.
In the short-term, lowering taxes just takes money from the state purse and does not drive new economic development. In the mid-term and long-term, lower taxes may encourage growth, but there's not a direct connection between taxation and economic development.
I believe I have seen it suggested somewhere that raising taxes puts pressure on business, which may have the effect of stimulating growth by forcing the businesses to make up the lost revenue (ramping up). What effect government policy has on the economy is not clear because the economy is made up of a mass of Brownian particles that move in unpredictable and befuddling ways. And the factors that affect macroeconomics are themselves in constant flux, so the thing that (seemed to) work last time could have a disastrous impact next time around.
But the issue that troubles me is growth. The health of the economy is always measured by the GDP growth rate: the higher the better. That seems like folly, and history seems to support that. The more vodka, the worse the hangover. The faster you drive, the worse the crash. Just a point to remember in this thread. While fuel prices are much more expensive in Europe, their wages are more significant than ours in the US as well. Minimum wage in the US is currently at 7.25/hour, or roughly 1160/month based on 4 weeks of 40 hours per. This alone can explain some of the gas prices being so high outside of the US.
The minimum wage in the UK is a little over 9.50/hour USD making a monthly, min. wage of approx. 1615.00/month. I wouldn't necessarily call concentrating on one thing a fixation, and even if it is, who cares? If you're constantly photographing what you enjoy, eventually you see more and more details to express through your photographs. Just enjoy! And share!
I agree, I think staying focused on a concept enables you see your progression and improvement - and you're enjoying yourself.
After that branch onto another concept, or combine concepts to form something new and different.
Get lost in the world of gear. Spend your time reading about the specs of forthcoming cameras and lenses, instead of actually taking pics. Denigrate the gear you have; fantasise about a fancier camera. That would make you a better photographer, surely? ;)
Surely the sheer fright from the sound of a machine-gun with oversize barrel (and a red ring of course ;) ) is enough to worry even the most veteran of photographers ;) :p

I'd like to help. I think my PS3 can do Folding.
yes, the ps3 can fold. just remember to join team 3446! and your ps3 should get around 900-1000 ppd (points per day)
i'll be getting more involved with this as soon as my electricity supplier has finally changed, should be a couple of weeks, my current love overcharging me for leaving things running 24/7.
i'll also try and sort out the software for my ps3, i barely use that so it'd prolly out do my computer looool

Kakaostats may go by the wayside, he doesn't have individual stats anymore and the rest of his stats are questionable because of some bug.:(

It seems to me that Apple are the good guys here for once, slapping down a company that is trying to trademark terms that are already in use albeit in a niche market!
Personally, I can't see how Apple could be seen to be the good guys in this case, given they're sending cease-and-desist letters to people using 'pod' (not "iPod") in their product names.

Makes one wonder what the markup on the DVDs are at the 'discount' stores...I am sure that they do not get the same profit from an iTunes card as the movie so it is just about $$$ as everything is.
