My wife's an RN and has both been in a number of anesthetized surgeries and has had some herself.
Most patients do just fine - as described above. Redheads are a bit more sensitive to anesthesia (not sure why, but apparently it's true), but that isn't an issue unless your anesthesiologist is color-blind. ;)
Some people - including my wife - are prone to a bit of nausea afterwards, but it's usually short-lived and it isn't an issue with most people. One thing that helps is to pay strict attention to the fasting/drinking instructions they'll give you beforehand. That cookie might seem like nothing when you're hungry before you go in, but you'll regret it upon waking up.
Also, depending on the anesthesia and your particular reaction to it, you'll almost undoubtedly have some period - a few seconds to an hour or so - of time where you are lucid but don't have functional short-term memory... meaning you might say naughty things to your neurosurgeon but then will have no idea why he's looking at you like that later on.... ;)

i downloaded 10.4.8 and it wouldnt boot! i got a dark grey screen instead of the blue appple screen. Then i did it again but reset pram. then it just sat at the apple screen loading for a few minutes, so i restarted. Same thing, but it reset by itself, o then the 3rd time i let it stay and it worked. i hope it ends up being ok. I only downloaded it because i was hoping for apertre 1.5, but of course its nto out yet

So let's see ...
I use Macs & I am creative (graphic designer/illustrator), but apart from that I am certainly no vegetarian, I ride a heavily customized Honda Shadow 600 chopper, I wear casual clothes, prefer beer to wine, would take a tunafish sandwich over hummus any day, watch Hollywood movies and drink Red Bull. :)

I like Pages. I haven't had any problems with it. I haven't used all of the features though. I mostly use it for printing envelopes which works great. It will only get better and I'm sure Apple will add more features like spread sheets and maybe a GUI front-end for SQL.

If someone is going to specifically test disk read/write speeds then one needs to also look into and see if the SSD is the Toshiba or Samsung model. I for one have the Samsung model and scored higher on the disk test then his model.
+1 for at least testing a MBA with 4 gigs of ram.

If your local store does not have it, call nationwide. My local verizon store said they ship for free anywhere in the U.S. by FedEx. I had one shipped to Florida. Hope this policy is not unique to the store I visited.

This gave me the idea of a combined AppleCare plan. Since Apple is pitching their mobile computing products in three major categories: iPhone, iPad, and MacBook - it would be really cool to offer a combined AC plan for two or all three categories.
Like I have a iPhone and a MacBook - wouldn't it be neat to be able to buy a hybrid plan that would be about $20 to $30 cheaper than buying them individually?

The developers at Adobe are saying that the company simply didn't want to spend that much time on the product. A Universal version was ruled out, and the next option would have been to make this a Windows-only product. Whatever, there isn't exactly a shortage of Mac sound editors.

Just also saw that the conservatives have tried just recently to get equal marriage rights outlawed and oppose abortion. Well, sorry- they aren't that different from our conservatives. They sound almost as bad on that front. They will try to outlaw equal marriage rights again, trust me.

Microsoft and their ad campaigns are so dumb. Instead of trying to convince people to buy a pc instead of a mac they should be trying to sell Microsoft software to Mac owners.

They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.
How does that make any sense?
It makes perfect sense when you understand that "recommend" is a special term when it comes to Consumer Reports. They weren't telling people not to buy it. They just weren't giving it their highest "recommended" seal of approval.

Dell topped the U.S. market with 31 percent, but suffered a negative growth rate of -6.7 percent. The top 5 is rounded out by HP with a 22 percent share and Gateway with a 6 percent share.
Apple's 5.8% marketshare would be far higher if it wasn't for the corporate bulk-buying of PCs for business; plus all the end of line, bargain-basement PCs that may figure in any such report.
