It's the people who are lead footed that don't see the full potential of the car.

I'd say it's the other way around, it really depends on your perspective.

It's the hypermilers that don't see the full potential of their car. ;)

If you don't redline your car at least once a day, you're doing it wrong.:D

Go test drive a Camry/Malibu/Accord to find out what that feels like. :o

If it is anything like my Subaru Baja... then I already know LOL

I have to admit I always thought the Fahrvergngen thing was a bit silly, but it did position the VWs as "different", something the new Jetta and Passat are emphatically not. They are intentionally more the same.

Never understood that ad campaign - till my ex and I bought our VW's. Me the New Beetle and him the Cabrio just months apart. That was a very happy salesman that day! LOL

In the end it was just how fun the Cabrio was fun to drive that made me jump to the New Beetle. Reliability was the reason I dumped my New Beetle... made in Mexico. While the ex's Cabrio was made in Germany with no major problems. Go figure....

I believe you are all missing the point.

The studios want HDCP over DVI and HDMI or whatever. There are no current systems that properly use it, even if they say they do, because the licenses or permissions have not been distributed yet and they are HARDWARE objects.

    HARDWARE is Apple's forte.

I suspect iTV is actually a series of devices that properly implement HDCP to suit the studios that demand seamless and enforceable content protection. As mentioned, mainly to protect the asset of a time sensitive and expensive major movie release.

There are really only two premium price revenue timeframes for movies. A few weeks after theatrical release and a few months after DVD (now online) release. They simply want to protect the "premiumness" of the price.

Apple does that in computers with methods to try to prevent installation and proper use of OSX on any computer but an Apple. It mainly works.

So I suspect we will see a "new" video iPod and iTV as a breakout box for your existing TV, and iTV enabled LCD TV's in the "media release".

    Then no studio will hesitate.

    Rocketman

Don't think it's neccessary. I don't think people take the video out on their ipods and record them onto DVD using DVD recorders....

Is it possible to use the built in iSight in iMovie? I just tried it out today when I was messing around with FCP and iMovie and I noticed I couldn't do it.

    Does anyone know?

    Samsung profits are down:

Samsung Profit Slides 30 Percent (http://www.wirelessweek.com/News/2011/04/Samsung-Profit-Slides-30-Percent-Business/)

"Samsung today announced a 30 percent dip in first-quarter profits over the same quarter in 2010. The Korean electronics company said falling chip prices and slowing profits on displays led to the drop in earnings.

    really ?
    looking at _production_ cars:
Toyota Prius from 2009: drag coefficient: 0.25

    Tatra 77a from 1935: 0.21
    Rumpler Tropfenwagen from 1921: 0.28

the late 30ties were actually the high point in aerodynamics being the focus in automobile manufacturing: there are countless of other examples from the time which simply never made it into production because of the war:
like the BMW K1 prototype which also achieved a value of 0.23 despite being a full 4 door saloon

another interesting car: the Fiat Turbina prototype: which had a coefficient of 0.14 (a record for 30 years) but any further development shelved because of problems with the expieremental fuel gazzling overheating turbine engine ;)

Thanks! That was fun following up on some of these early cars. Some of them are just gorgeous. It is amazing and inspiring that engineers working with slide - rulers and wind tunnels (and without fancy computers) could achieve the same kind of drag coefficients on their designs that modern supercomputers can come up with.

However - I still think my point stands ("Steadiness"). While small production cars may have been aerodynamic - the industry average was not. In fact I could argue that as engine efficiencies improved, industry wide, aerodynamics got worse because the overall mileage stayed much the same (or improved slowly).

My DP G5 and my 19" CRT monitor do a good job of keeping my bedroom in my 1 bedroom apt. pretty warm. (New England winters can get a bit cold)

Unless, of course, we decided to declare war on Australia while I was napping.

We could just add them to the list.

Seriously, the death penalty as instituted in the US is grossly economically inefficient. With all the automatic appeals and legal fees, the death penalty is nothing more than a subsidy for the legal profession.

Life without parole is the way to go. If "Life Without Parole" actually meant "Life Without Parole". Far cheaper to just house them, plus, if we did find out we made a mistake, we could give them at least a part of their life back.

I just switched. It was pretty easy. I just made sure to read all the fine print. I was super worried about extending my contract/losing unlimited data. Checked my data usage while I was there and I'm so glad I'm grandfathered in!

If you can, please give. You'll help people like me live to see another Mac. :)

This is a sandbox with a bunch of kids screaming my dad is better than yours...

Coming here and crying that your device is better you just prove to be absolute idiots. And I'm not talking as from insulting point of view. I'm just stating the obvious which points to the fact that you were born without most braincells needed for basic functions such as common sense. I really want to see the look on your face the day you will realise that.

    Well said:-)
This is like watching dogs in a who can piss higher contest.

Intelligent people absorb information and adjust what they buy based on what they need and what works for them, regardless of who makes the product.

I don't understand why people care who have no horse in this race. We don't get any of their profits, so whether somebody sells millions of iphones or 350 k Androids a day, all the same to me.

All I want is a product that works, integrated with the rest of the things I do and Apple does that well.

If that ever changes I am not too proud to say it's time to switch.

Here are some pics of the release in Tokyo Japan 5 hours ago. What a blast....I was number 51...2 hour before release. The line ended up taking 2 blocks. I would say up around 700 people in the line. They served us hot starbucks coffee as we waited in the rain

Sorry, but black people using the n word is no better than any other ethnicity doing it.
You fail to understand the reason why it is used and the context behind it. Given that you've brought it up, I doubt my explanation will sway you.

    1) Never work with a friend of a friend.
    2) Never work for free.
    3) Never work for a start up business UNLESS it has a larger group behind it (Public/private equity group, blue chip client with a new business, etc.. is ok).
    4) Never do work for a religious organisation (seriously not a good idea). Or for that matter a union...
    5) If you lie with dogs you'll get flees. Never work on a project you wouldn't want other clients seeing as a client of yours on your Portfolio.
    6) Never work with a company where they can't speak your native language... Cheque time comes and "miso soli me no undastandy".
    7) Be choosy about who you want to work with. Talented designers will always find work while talentless designers wont.

    8) Other artists. They always have pre-defined notions are are rarely up for up for interpretation
    9) Design by committee. When there is more then 2 or 3 people approving your design, RUN.

I've only had to fire 2 clients in 8 years of business. One photographer, and one glass blowing gallery. To that I say no more!
