    As expected.

Yep. As an added bonus, LTE networks might actually be available in more than select locations sometime around launch. They're not missing much this year.

Not sure I understand, I've had 4G on my Evo for over a year now...

    Hrm....

The "4G" on your Evo is WiMax, a completely different standard being pushed by Clearwire and supported by Sprint. It allowed Sprint to get a "4G" network up and running fairly quickly, but it's likely to be dead-ended with the proliferation of LTE and/or Clearwire blowing through its venture capital. Sprint's CEO has already said they'd be open to switching over to LTE in the future, which they really should do or end up being left behind in a similar way to their CDMA situation (except without Verizon to back them up).

Wow. Being from the UK it's pretty weird to hear of people buying guns for Christmas! I can't imagine being able to casually own one.

That is really ugly... Is it my imagination or has the general design @ Apple been going a bit haywire recently?

Ah.... I cry foul. Not real at all.

I did not cry foul. I did not photoshop this picture. How would i even go about doing that. There was no keyboard or mouse. and you can obviously see that the virtual keyword is present on the screen in the picture. :apple:

The biggest question I have is whether the dual Thunderbolt will support 2 external monitors.

Imagine a triple 27 inch setup! (Brain explodes at thought)

It would be nice, if the user could change the windows (UI) color in MacOS X like this can already be done in Windows / Linux.

So, that you could change the grey look to something else. They could integrate the color chooser, like you have, when you work with fonts etc.

After all, Mac is sold to consumers, so why not give them the choise of colors, at least in their programs, if their computers are cold/neutrla grey/silver/white colored?

You need some strong suction cups to remove the screen (the whole back chassis is one piece, the only access is via the screen) and more importantly a dust-free environment, otherwise when you put the screen back on (or rather the glass pane in front of the actual screen) you can easily trap dust between the glass and the monitor.
The difficult thing is the dust-free environment.

So, no, it isn't possible for the "non-geek" OP. ;)

But that's what the iOS platform is: an OS that runs on tablets, PMP's and phones.

The people who care about the platform are developers, which are kind of important to everyone who uses the platform.

Great. But that doesnt mean that tablets and PMPs should be lumped with smartphones when you're comparing smartphone OS.

Anyone actually planning on buying this? Especially with a refresh right around the corner?

Of course. I'll bet a lot of the true followers would still buy the original iPhone is Steve said it was better.

if MS makes it cheaper than an iPod then Apple might have some trouble.
Of course it will be cheaper, there is no question. On even comparable products Microsoft always goes with the cheaper price, and Apple can charge a premium right now b/c iPod holds 80% of the market. If something comparable comes out, Apple will be forced to drop their prices.

Anyone arguing against this is an idiot.

First people complain about not having choices or prices being too high. Now there are more options and pricing is lower.

    Wow. Just wow.

Well those addicted to Apple can still pay more for their songs. Enjoy. I won't stop you. Just like those that want to pay more for ebooks.

Personally - I'll shop it around and pay the best price whoever is selling it.

Apple stock is tanking because Apple stopped making tools (which people need) and started making fashion objects (which are the first to go in a recession.)

Maybe if Apple would make some real computers at fair prices... instead of these toys...

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway?

I haven't read for sure, but I'm guessing these products are RAIDed for speed, not redundancy.

How many drives are in there? It's possible they've got the speeds up pretty high on them.

I guess I have the opposite view of this since I will buy from iTunes as long as they continue to provide a lossless format--and Amazon provides only a lossy format. That is more important to me than a slight price difference. AAC plays on anything I need to play it on--and it could be converted to another lossless format such as FLAC if you really wanted to get out from under Apple's proprietary format. I am also a huge Amazon fan and a Prime member and buy a lot of stuff from them--but not MP3s.

I don't want to burst your bubble but Apple sell their tracks in a lossy format. Apple's format for iTunes purcases is a different beast to Flac.

The update of 0.2mm seems reasonable. 1mm was a joke.

From the new comparison pictures, it looks like the top plate is responsible for the slight difference in thickness. Perhaps it isn't popped together tight enough? I'd try squeezing it really hard.

I wonder how much variance is present in the black model actually. I mean if you measured the thickness of several black iphone 4 models from different batches. Perhaps there is variability and this will occur with the white model too. Or perhaps the white is very slightly thicker.

As it is so small, this is not a problem. As the link in the update points out, most cases fit. The few that don't will have to be altered by the manufacturer. But I have to laugh at comments about owners of iphone 4 cases having to buy new ones for the white iphone they just bought to replace the black one. I seriously doubt that is happening to any great degree. And for those few who are buying white iphones 6 months or less after the black just for a new color, they are not going to complain about having to buy a new case. Suddenly after buying an expensive iphone just for the new color they are getting a sense of frugality? Right.

    Now on to better topics:
    1. Where is the white ipod touch?
    2. When will the ipod classic get a hard drive upgrade?
    3. Will there ever be an ipod tough 3G/4G? Will it double as a mifi?
